Village Earth reconnects communities with the resources they need to create a vibrant future for themselves!
From our 30+ years of work with grassroots indigenous communities across the world, we know that communities crucially lack access to capital and information for sovereign decision-making. This is especially true in the US, where Native nations have been dispossessed from their lands and the capacity to control their own resources, which continues to slow down their efforts.
Yet, Native ways of stewarding the land are better for the planet and people, and they are spearheading regenerative farming and conscious land-use across Turtle Island!
In 2019, we created the Native Lands Information System, a data platform for open-access geolocated data that matters to tribes and tribal members! We have been using cutting-edge research in ecology and agriculture to provide tribes and our Native partners across the Nation with relevant mapping tools and data dashboards for sovereign land-planning, advocacy, and research!
This is what our partners across Indian Country are saying about our work:
“The Native Lands Advocacy Project has been a game changer for self-determined decision-making and land planning for sovereign Indigenous Nations". Michael Brydge, Sweetgrass Consulting
"The Native Lands Advocacy Project’s data platform serves as an invaluable resource for supporting our work". Carly Griffith, IFAI
“This data platform is an abundance of useful tools geared towards assisting Indian Country". Kelsey Scott, Intertribal Agriculture Council
"NLAP is the most robust resource that has finally bridged the gap between available scientific information and the boundaries that matter most to Tribal nations". Dr. Kyle Whyte, UMich
Today, because of the ideological war currently erasing years of knowledge about climate change and how to make the Earth a better place to live for us all, our funding opportunities have significantly decreased and we need your support to continue delivering this much-needed research for free to those at the forefront of the fight for a livable planet for all!
Help us keep this invaluable resource free to use and continue enriching it with cutting-edge science for grassroots impact!
Your support today is a constructive act of resistance!
