Support 7 Mile Immigrant and BIPOC Workers

Donation protected
Our goal for this fundraiser is to support our employees for at least one month by covering the wages they will have lost after both of 7 Mile Fashion's north and south locations were looted and destroyed. On May 28th, 2020 our south Minneapolis location was completely burned down, only leaving two walls. On the same day, our north Minneapolis location was completely looted and water damaged.

We employ about 30 employees. One employee was hoping for a house, and now does not have employment. Most have families to take care of and some are the sole breadwinner. Everyone we employ is either an immigrant or African-American.  Many live close by, so their lives are affected by more than just losing their job at our stores. We aim to get them back on their feet as quickly as possible with these funds, as insurance claims are unlikely to cover all expenses and can be a slow and tedious process.

100% of proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards payroll. If any proceeds are leftover, we will donate them to a local nonprofit to benefit our local community.

We would be so incredibly grateful for any help you can offer us. We deeply value our employees and are invested in seeing immigrant and BIPOC succeed. Our own family immigrated from South Korea to  the US with $1,000 to start a new life. We tirelessly worked 3 jobs between the two of us until we were able to open a small beauty supply store in 1989 in North Minneapolis with a lot of support. We value supporting and lifting one another up. We were able to grow our  business little by little, expanding our original location, and taking on other locations.  Last year, we were able to complete a 10-year dream of renovation and building a beautiful wig showroom. We will rebuild. We will continue to hire our neighbors and invest in our community. We need your help to assist us in covering the payroll  gap so our employees don't suffer any more loss during this time.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

The Ahn Family
