My mother, Lizzie Holloway aka “Mama Lizzie” is an Oakland native & domestic worker. In 1993 she founded her cleaning service, and has cleaned homes throughout the Bay Area. She’s an active member of @acce_action and has dedicated her time and resources to working with the elderly and people living with Alzheimer’s. Like many Black seniors, my parents have been affected by #Covid_19. Neither of my parents have worked since #SIP there’s little options for them, plus the risk is too high. I want to thank ACCE for sharing my mother’s story along with many others who’s lives have been affected by this virus.
Repost from @acce_action using @RepostRegramApp - Join the movement! @ACCE_Action member and Oakland tenant Lizzie Holloway has not worked for a month because her age makes her vulnerable to #COVID19. “Right now I am not working due to my age and the fact that I can get the virus so I have been off work I guess a month now, month and a half. I’ll be striking on May 1st as far as the rent. We’re not able to pay the rent and also buy food at this time due to our situation, as far as not working. This strike is important to me because we’re not getting work, the money that we were getting before COVID19. My husband isn’t working. I’m not working. We still have bills to pay. This is something that makes me nervous every day.”
