Support 1st Female Stage Manager in Palestine

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

My name is Jihan Rezeqallah, 22. I am the first qualified Stage Manager in Palestine. I have worked very hard to be where I am today with the support of my parents and my three sisters.  Palestine is a tough country to grow up in, not so many opportunities and many restrictions as a young person, under occupation and as a woman in a traditional society. I graduated from Al Harah Theater Performing Arts Training Center, PARC, in Bethlehem, which is the first established Center to teach technical fields of performing arts in Palestine.  This was achieved  in partnerships with Intercult, Swedish Institute, Circus Cirkur, City Theater, Riksteatern in Sweden, Riding Lights Theater, Royal Court Theater, National Theater of Wales in the UK, Piccolo Teatro Milano, Teatro Due Monde in Italy, Goethe Institute, British Council, Jena City, Bergish Gladbach and many other partners in Europe.

After graduating with a Diploma  in Stage Management & Costume Making I worked with different theatres locally and internationally. It hasn't been easy being very young and a woman.  I never gave up, I wanted to study to get more professional and academic knowledge in my field.  I decided to research and finally I applied to the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) in the UK.  I was accepted and offered a place to study for an MA in Stage & Event Management, despite the fact that I don’t hold a BA.  The College was very impressed with my CV despite my young age.

This is a dream come true, but I do not have the financial support for the MA. Lack of a BA does not allow me to apply for a scholarship from the British Council or other scholarship programs.  I want to continue my studies and be the first to obtain an MA in this field in Palestine.  We do not have such opportunities at any university or college in Palestine.   Achieving this would help me share my knowledge and experiences with young Palestinians studying at Al Harah PARC or other places. I want to contribute to developing the culture & performing arts sector in Palestine.  I want to be a role model for other women in Palestine.

If you believe in the impact of the Arts on young people and on societies you would make sure to support me in achieving my dream.

I would appreciate it so much if you can help in any way to contribute towards:

£2000 as a deposit to accept the Offer from the College.
£20,595 for the fees for international students.
£1000 per month for living expenses which amounts to £15,000 for 15 months
Offering accommodation in Cardiff will also be highly appreciated.

Of course my work savings will only cover my visa application & travel cost to the UK in September 2019.

please NOTE that the funding is in Swedish krona because Palestine is not included as a country on the web page, and we had to use a Swedish bank account. ( my friend account).
