My name is Felicity and I moved to the USA in 2016 from Perth, Western Australia. I first moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and witnessed the devestating floods in August last year. I know how long it takes for a community to recover from this type of natural disaster. I moved to Houston in June 2017 for work and in that short time I have already made a really strong network of friends, and come to love this city like my own home town.
Since Sunday, I have seen both devestating, and humbling scenes play out in this beautiful city. I saw cars being swept away outside my apartment, whole interstate highways being turned into raging rivers, and watched a friend being rescued from her house on Facebook Live. I have also seen more volunteers at shelters than evacuees, small business owners putting their business on the line to feed those displaced, and had complete strangers offer me lunch while I was gutting a friends parents house.
I know that if I was in Perth, and seeing these scenes play out in the media - I would want to help.
So, I have set this up in case you do.
Tomorrow I am heading to CostCo to stock up on food, water, sanitary items, dry towels, toiletries and blankets to hand out in Orange, Texas. This town has been isolated from Houston for several days as the water has been too high to get in or out. One of my friends from football, Bec Stevens, her parents are currently living in their flooded house without power or running water since the weekend. A group of us from my footy team are driving out there on Saturday to remove all the water damaged walls and flooring and drop off much needed supplies to her family and their community.

This situation will likely last for several months, so any donation past this date will be used for further volunteering efforts.
I am not the first person to reach out for funds for this cause, and won't be the last. However, if you know me, you know that your money will be put to good use.
