Dear angels, my name is Mah Mekolle, founder of Connecting Angels, a 501(c)3 public charity based in Houston, TX. Our mission is pretty simple, to use the power of love and connection to improve the quality of life of those in need through simple acts of kindness. I am seeking your help in raising funds to support an act of kindness for a stranded angel with a baby
MEET EBERE, Ms E., An Angel in need
About 3 weeks ago, I was called to the aid of a young mother, Ebere, who was 8 months pregnant and suddenly found herself financially destitute and unable to afford her current living arrangement. She could was in dire & desperate need of secure accomodation and help with food and transportation.
I met with Ebere, and I got to know her tragic story, and the strength behind the sad eyes. Ebere was healing from injuries sustained in a fatal car crash that killed her 7 year old daughter. She had broken bones, and visible scars to remind her of her physical and emotional pain, and now, the indignity, of not having a home, or where to bring her baby after birth.
A LEAP OF FAITH
From the moment I laid eyes on her sadness, I knew I coud not just send this sweet soul to a shelter, I could not bare to have her worry one more day. I spoke to my husband, and as a family, we made the decision to welcome Ebere to our home. We had no idea how we would manage this, but we knew, she needed us, her unborn child needed love and a home.
Ebere moved in with my family and on Sunday, November 19th, and 4 days later, we celebrated Thanksgiving. She was our guest of honor. Two days later, on Saturday, she went into labor, and on Sunday, November 27th, exactly 1 week after moving in, Ebere gave birth to a boy, via Cesarean Section. She had endured a hard, painful labor all day Saturday and Sunday, trying hard to deliver naturally, afraid that if she had a c-section she would be a burden to the family that had welcomed a stranger. This broke my heart.
I knew there and then, that I was hooked and committed to taking care of Ebere and her baby for as long as they needed me. As I held her hand all night, as she labored, I assured her, she had a home, no matter what condition all this ended in. After a prolonged and hard labor, and baby in distress, baby Francis was born via Cesarean Section.
Dear angels, please help me keep my promise to take care of Ebere and her baby. We have made the decision to support Ebere and her baby for a full year with a home, food, help with medical expenses for Ebere and the baby, clothing and household needs. Ebere's health needs attention, her wounds from her vehicle accident were poorly managed, and she walks with crutches and a limp. We intend to seek appropriate medical intervention once she is settled and healed from her C-Section. Your donations will help us pay for these expenses and make sure they do not lack.
The world is in so much turmoil, we need angels like you to make a difference in the life of an unsuspecting mother, through simple acts of kindness.
