SuperMom Needs a Lift

Have you ever passed someone walking on the side of the street? Have you then ever wondered if there was a way you could've helped, but in that moment just weren't quite sure so you kept on your way?

Well, this past week I was driving down Hillsboro Rd and was faced with this exact situation. It was 6:30 in the morning, and I saw what I thought to be a student walking alone with a backpack on. It was early in the morning and I myself was on the way to a school nearby so  I thought to myself "I'm sure she is just walking towards a carpool ride or something." I went along with my morning as usual, and it wasn't until about 8:45 that I realized that I just might have misread the situation. As I was about to pull into the Grassland Shopping Center part of Franklin, I saw the same "kid with a backpack" up ahead of me about a quarter of a mile. I couldn't believe my eyes. This couldn't be a kid.  She would've been sooo late to school by this point. As I prepared to catch up to her a second time, this time I took a closer look and saw that it was a woman wearing scrubs!

I parked my truck 100 yards later as my mind started to race. I was thinking...has this lady been walking from a HOSPITAL! What hospitals are even close to here?! WAS THIS LADY ON NIGHT SHIFT!?!

The answer to all these questions.......YES. This lady's name is Tami, and Tami is the SuperMom I mentioned in the title of this GoFundMe.

Tami is a single mother of 2 sweet little girls who is a classic case of being "stuck in a current situation." Amazingly, she and her daughters still support their local community in Franklin by doing weekly community service at a group called Franktown amongst others. She is a woman of God that teaches her daughters that "their is always someone less fortunate that we can provide support. Furthermore, she demonstrates the lengths that a strong mother is willing to go to in order to help her family's situation. In this case, it was walking home from work instead of taking an extra LYFT because she wanted to make sure her oldest daughter was able to ride safely to school every morning no matter what. Tami would make sure she got to work on time, which sometimes would mean she had to pay for a  pricey LYFT from Franklin, but began to save her money towards a car for her family by walking in the mornings after working through the night...........................
Does anybody know how far of a walk it is from St. Thomas West to Franklin HighSchool?
I'll give you some guesses
A. 4 miles
B. 7.2 miles
C. 6 miles
D. 14.8 miles

Answer: D (and that's the shortest distance via road)

For all you nurses or anyone has worked a night shift, imagine walking that distance after a long night of work!

Here's the deal. I promised Tami that my community would come together and help her out of this situation. This is an opportunity for us to truly show the power of love and community. I know the doubter in us all thinks "Surely there is something else she could do." To which I follow up with, "walk 14.8 miles after work today and then think whatever you would like." Haha I know it's harsh, but when you think of it that way, man does PERSPECTIVE smack you in the face.

The amount to raise is set at $53 because to be honest I didn't want to put a cap on the amount. I say the more we can raise the better. Any person who is willing to walk a half marathon to save around $30 towards her family's greater good is a good place to give money in my book, and I can be quite frugal. I chose $53 because when I asked Tami how much she thought she was spending per day on her family's different LYFT rides...that was the number she averaged. $53 doesn't seem like much standing alone, but multiply that by at least 20 days a month and your are suddenly sitting at $1060 a month. Now that alone could get you a nice car payment. Let's be the difference that rewards her frugality and savings mentality.

In Tami's current situation, she has been able to save a little bit of money, but it is still not enough to even put a downpayment on a decent used car due to her trying to rebuild her credit score. Like I said, SHE'S TRYING, BUT SHE IS STUCK IN A REVOLVING DOOR TYPE OF SITUATION.

Let's be the community that changes her family's life.  If you want to give $5, give $5. If you want to give $500 give $505 ;) In my opinion, no amount is too small or too large. Give from your heart...and prepare for the testimony to follow.

Goal of this GoFundMe: To raise money to help SuperMom Tami!

1. No more walking to work 14.8 miles away
2. Raising money for a downpayment
3. Raise awareness via story to ideally have a car donated
4. Use a portion of the money to provide secondary income via bracelet making (a passion of her and her daughters)
5. Use a portion of the money until a car is found on nights where carpool can't be had to get a LYFT

GIVE WITH YOUR HEART NOT YOUR MIND

Thank you everyone!

Romans 5:3-5  “ Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

Romans 8:18  “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”
