Desmond needs all the Superheroes in the world to unite and root for him to get better!
On Monday May 16, 2016, Desmond suffered a double hemorrhagic stroke while at the gym which has since left him in the ICU. He has no function in his left side & is struggling with seizures as well as memory loss. He has since had another stroke & while he has shown some positive signs towards recovery, there have been many difficult days with setbacks.
The brain is very unpredictable so it is difficult to know how things will proceed. Doctors are unsure of long-term effects and do not know when he will leave the ICU. Des & his fiancé, Christina, will have a long hard road ahead of them. They've worked hard to save for their wedding which is planned for this September and while we all hope to still see that happen, it may have to be postponed in light of these unexpected financial obligations and his extremely strenuous journey to recovery in the coming months.
Unfortunately, Desmond had just begun a new job and is without access to disability or vacation time as the bills begin to pile up. His medical insurance will be short term and Christina is self-employed. As is such, she is struggling to handle the financial difficulties they will face and balance a lighter work schedule to be at the hospital with him as much as possible. Because she is self-employed if she doesn't work she doesn't get paid!
Desmond is a fighter and we know with our support he will pull through this! He is a kind soul with a big heart who would give his last penny to any one of us that he cares about! We are calling on all of you to help make this very difficult time more bearable for this wonderful couple in the hopes that once Des recovers their dream wedding can be fulfilled! Any donation, even the smallest amount, will make a difference and help this superhero recover & live happily ever after with his future wife!
