"SUPERFISKY" a full feature documentary

SUPERFISKY film website

"SUPERFISKY" is a full feature documentary film collaboration between 'The Landscape Architecture Podcast' and the Department of Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly Pomona.

The film tells the story of advocacy and activism through the lens of Los Angeles's first official Urban Ecologist Kat Superfisky. Kat Superfisky is our protagonist and the Los Angeles River acts as her supporting character.

While the primary objective of the documentary is to share a compelling story of courage and determinism, the secondary objective is to further increase the awareness from the general public inspirational work that contemporary landscape architects are engaged in.

Once successfully completed "SUPERFISKY" will be used as a pilot episode and shopped around to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Showtime, and HBO to be picked up as a series that continually tells of the engaging and significant work by the Landscape Architects. The ability to introduce the work by Landscape Architects through such a wide medium can increase lead roles, job opportunities, collaborations, and attract talent to a field that may not fully be understood how expansive and important currently is and our industries ambition to take on the challenges such as our climate emergency, redefining public spaces, and spacial equity.

"SUPERFISKY" has completed 95% of it's filming. Thus far our documentary has exceeded our limitations on "sweat equity" and is will require funding to bring it to completion. Prior to listing what your funding will be used towards we would like to share what and how we have been able to bring this documentary along so far.

The Landscape Architecture Podcast serves as a steadfast champion of Landscape Architecture. As the podcast grew is success and reach it was only natural that it transitioned into filmmaking. So when the department head (Andrew Wilcox) of the Landscape Architecture Department at Cal Poly Pomona asked Michael Todoran if he would like to teach a film class he enthusiastically agreed.

The class began with student-led design charettes determining that the film should share a story with a strong sense of civic responsibility combined with a central character that is already in motion. Driven by this direction fellow landscape architecture faculty 'Kat Supefisky' was an apparent choice.
