Michael Curtis is going to paddle from Wenatchee, WA to Umatilla, OR, that is 180 miles in support of Northwest Battle Buddies a 501(c)3 that professionally trains service dog for combat veterans with PTSD. They gift these highly trained service dogs to our American Heroes.

This event is part of a 5 Year Journey to Explore the entire length of the Columbia river to raise Awareness for NWBB and their life Changing impact on Veterans.  The 180 miles this year again represents the 180 degree turn Veterans take when receiving their Service Animal.  The day they receive their Service Animal is what we refer to as "Their Last Worst Day". SUP 4 SUPPORT:  Is a Solo 180 Mile Stand Up Paddleboard Journey from Wenatchee Washington to Umatilla Oregon! Part 3 of a five-year Journey Navigating the Full Length of the Columbia River from Canada to the Ocean. This year 2019, Michael Curtis will be completing Leg 3 of the 900 plus mile paddle by river in Support of Northwest Battle Buddies and the Veterans they Serve. NWBB is Nonprofit 501(c)(3) Dedicated to Empowering Veterans with PTSD to regain their freedom and independence by partnering them with professionally trained and specifically matched service dogs at no charge — Serving our Veterans who served us all. The 180 miles this year represents the 180 degree turn Veterans take when receiving their Service Animal.  The day they receive their Service Animal is what we refer to as "Their Last Worst Day".

Mission:  Raise funds for Northwest Battle Buddies through promoting a 180 Mile Paddleboard Journey from Wenatchee, WA to Umatilla, OR. Generate support and raise awareness for Service Disabled Veteran’s and the Benefits of Service Animals to them. Educate, Inspire and Motivate the Public to get involved by providing Monetary Donations and Volunteering in support of Northwest Battle Buddies.

Secondary Mission: Inspire and Motivate Veterans to Pursue their Dreams, Become Active Again, Adventure, and Live an Active Healthy Lifestyle.

What Drives Me: As a Veteran, I want to inspire others to be active and pursue the things they love. Injuries both mental and physical can be debilitating, but through physical activity and setting personal goals these are things we can master and overcome. Migrating from an environment with extreme discipline like the Military to a Civilian Lifestyle can be overwhelming. We no longer have Directive or Mandates, so finding motivation to stay Active, especially when suffering from Disabilities can be incredibly difficult. What most don’t understand is that finding balance in life after the trauma is something that takes work. When you’re in pain, physical or mental there is no better cure than being active. The more Active you are the better you feel on both the inside and out. I want to inspire others to get out of the house and do the things they love. I want to educate the public on the benefits of Service Animals to Disabled Veteran’s with PTSD and help them to understand why these Animals are so important in helping our Veterans to Achieve all the Above.
