Sunshine's Surgery Fund

Sunshine may have Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), and needs to get an MRI and surgery in order to improve her quality of life and be able to walk correctly.
Sunshine is a 6-month-old Dachshund puppy who is known for her silly, vibrant personality and tender, loving ways. Anyone who meets her, falls in love right away. This comes to no surprise though as Dachshunds are known to be very loyal, intelligent, and comical dogs.
Sadly, as great as a companion as they are, they are prone to Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), which is genetic. The only treatment for IVDD is surgery in order to relieve the compression off the spine, which is what causes stiffness and paralysis.
Since birth, Sunshine has been doing great! It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that she let out a painful squeal without anyone or anything touching her. After rushing her to the Vet, she was put on anti-inflammatory and pain medication, which she responded to very well. Quickly, she was back to her playful, cheery self. However, recently Sunshine stiffened up and was not able to pick herself up or move out of certain positions for hours at a time.
Without any testing, Sunshine's condition can worsen. Surgery is required and if not corrected, it can cause more pain, discomfort, loss of motor control, and complete paralysis. The spine is very risky; the quicker we are able to treat it, the better the results are.
Unfortunately, the only uncertainty is how much everything cost. And as we all know, Vet bills can be overwhelming. An accurate estimation for surgery would be made after Sunshine undergoes testing to determine the degree of damage. Testing alone can go up to 3000!
All of the funds will go towards Sunshine's Vet bills.
With the gofundme, ALL MONEY can be and will be RETURNED back to the donors if surgery is not feasible. Therefore, if the Vet feels that after the diagnostic exams the surgery cannot improve her quality of life or it is too expensive and the goal is not raised, euthanization would sadly be the next option. In this case, every donor will recieve back their monies. But we don’t know anything or how extensive the damage is without getting minor exams, first.
I created this GoFundMe for my dear friend, Adalyz. From her friends and one Dachshund mama to another, we want to help sweet little Sunshine get the medical attention she needs.
