Sung Park - Stage IV Colon Cancer Fund

Donation protected
After experiencing several stomach issues, our dad, Sung Park, went in for a colonoscopy on July 22nd. Because he has had few health issues in the past, our initial thoughts were that things were going to be relatively okay. However, on July 28th, our family’s high hopes flipped completely as we received news that he has been diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer that has spread to the liver and potentially the lungs. Our dad moved to America from Korea when he was just in middle school. His family moved over to America with a mere $200, so they did not have a lot of the privileges that we had growing up as children. Despite these challenges, he blew away all expectations and obtained a full scholarship to go to college to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree and start his career within technology. He managed to raise three kids who all got accepted in university, and provide them with the exceptional resources, guidance, toys, and extracurricular activities that he could not have as a kid.  Our dad has always been invincible to us; we rarely saw him sad or in pain. There were minimal things that he could not do whenever we asked for any type of help. He was our Superman. He taught us how to work hard and persevere, to always think about situations analytically and carefully, and to love our family and always be there for each other. He has taught us so much and is truly the reason for much of our successes. Growing up, we questioned and resented many of the ways he parented us. However, looking back, we all realized that it was not out of hate, but love. It absolutely pains us to see our superman cry and be worried, but our family is hopeful. Our dad is not a number or a statistic. He is hardworking, thoughtful, strong, silly, and so brave. We know he can push through this and win this battle.  The Park Family would love and appreciate any type of support. Due to the upcoming surgeries and extensive rounds of chemotherapy, our dad will not be able to work anymore, so our main source of income will be gone. The donations would be able to cover house payments, medical costs, college payments, and any other necessities that our mom, our dad’s caregiver, will need. We ask you to please keep us in your prayers and thoughts, and to please share this GoFundMe with your friends, families, and other organizations when possible. We will try our best to send out updates as much as we can.  We love you all and thank you in advance for the good wishes.
