Hello! My name is Ana, I am 19 years old and I study Economics and Finance at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, one of the best in the world in this field. Currently, I am in the first year of the BSc program, but I also want to partake in a Summer School Session, where I can further my knowledge. Luckily, I have recently been accepted to Columbia University for a 6-week program in July-August 2019, but the sad news is that the cost is way over my parent's budget.
I am very ambitious and hardworking, and therefore, I dream of having a successful career in banking. I strongly believe that partaking in the Summer Program from Columbia University will enrich my knowledge and improve my skills in subjects related to my domain of interest.
I wish to get a glimpse of the American university experience, at one of the most prestigious institutions in the world. Therefore, the opportunity of spending a summer studying at Columbia University appealed to me immediately. When I visited the campus in the summer of 2016 I was completely overwhelmed, and I promised myself I will get there one day.
My natural curiosity makes me want to experience new things in life, take advantage of every opportunity, and constantly challenge and improve myself. I want to participate in this program because I think will help me grow not only professionally, but also personally.
My academic accomplishments show that I am, and have always been, an ambitious student who is willing to carry out all the necessary work in order to be among the best. I have graduated in the top 10 from my high school, which is in the top 3 from Romania, and I have also been in the top 50 from Bucharest at Baccalaureate (the National Exam), with a GPA of 9.83 out of 10. I was also engaged in a lot of extracurricular experiences during high school. For example, I have been a volunteer at "Save the children" for almost 2 years, where I organized fundraisings for charitable events and also bi-weekly visits to orphanages, where I and my team were helping the kids at homework and also teaching them English. Later, I became a member of "Interact/Rotaract/Rotary" club, where I was also responsible for organizing cultural events. The internship in the marketing department from “Orange Romania” helped me develop my research abilities and team group spirit. Moreover, the participation in the “Model United Nations” - crisis committee - taught me to be adaptable and efficient while being under pressure. After that, the visit to the European Parliament in Brussels (organized by the principal of the high school) made me even more aware of the economics and politics around the EU.
My native language is Romanian, but I am fluent in English and Beginner in French and Italian. My hobbies are reading, watching series, skiing, golf and my favorite one, traveling.

I would highly appreciate your contribution in order to make my wish come true. I have always dreamed of attending Columbia University and now that I have the chance, even if just for the summer, I cannot stop thinking about this. My parents have always worked to give me everything I need, but this expense is just too much for them to support, taking into account that they are also paying for the tuition and housing at Bocconi University in Milan. Some teenagers dream to go to Las Vegas for their birthday, I wish to attend Columbia University for the Summer Program.
