Sumbawanga Development Fund

Sumbawanga Development Fund Summary

For the last two weeks we were in Sumbawanga, Tanzania to spend time with Father Pontiano Chomba.  Father Chomba has been a friend of our family for the last 10 years and has pioneered Ed's Marian Stove Project in this small part of the world.  After meeting many of the people of Sumbawanga, seeing their homes, their water supplies, their smokey kitchens, and hearing their stories, we believe financial support is the best way we can care for them and impact their future.

All donations will go directly to Father Chomba who will distribute them in support of ongoing projects and emergent needs.  We saw and documented each of these needs first-hand in our recent travel blog and can attest to their immediacy and our strong belief that your support will dramatically effect each of them in a very dramtic, very immediate way.   Since we have known him,  Father Chomba has been a trustworthy steward of financial resources.   We trust his judgement and know he cares deeply for his Parrish, his neighbors, and his country.  Father Chomba's  direct connection to this community is an incredible asset and will ensure all funds are put to the highest and best use.

The projects that will be supported by your donation include the following:

1.  The Marian Stove Project
2. Ongoing Development needs in Kizungu Village
3.  Support for Katumba Secondary School
4.  Support for Women Group initiatives in Holy Spirit Parish
5.  Development Plans for the Blind School in Malangali
6.  Disaster recovery work at St Theresia's Secondary School after a recent dorm fire
7.  Work in Support of the Sumbawanaga Orphanage
8.  Various ongoing water projects throughout the Rukwa region

Please do not hesitate to contact us to ask any questions or get more information.  Any amount helps and we are grateful for for your support.

"You may choose to look the other way, but you can never say again that you did not know."
This quote by William Wilberforce sums up our conviction after our trip to Sumbawanga, Tanzania and drives this ongoing fund drive.
