This is Kevin. On 2/24/21, I found him listless with a dangerously high fever. After two back to back er visits, two nights in the icu, and multiple diagnostic tests, we were told he either had lymphoma or FiP-most likely the latter. FiP has always been a death sentence until recently; however, treatment is expensive. Regardless, we have committed to treat Kevin and have been since April 4th. Since then..he has responded positively to treatment. FiP is a mutation of the feline coronavirus. My hope while sharing Kevin’s journey is that we are educating pet owners about FiP, it’s symptoms (sometimes slow and insidious) and share that there is a way to navigate through this disease. Sometimes love makes you follow the most unorthodox road. This is surely that time for us. Feline Coronavirus is extremely common and the majority of felines have already had feline coronavirus. Most will shed it completely. Chances are Kevin will not be the only kitty you hear that has FiP and because of him you can give them hope. You can share his story. We have always rescued animals...however...Kevin was my first non -rescue pet....and as it turns out...he will be my biggest rescue yet. We are holding on to hope and prayers.
