<div>On January 26, 2022, Duke Wang, suffered a massive stroke at his restaurant, Mandarin Garden, while performing food prep late into the night for the coming workday. He is currently hospitalized in the neuro-intensive care unit at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. As a friend of the Wang family and a frequent guest at their restaurant over the past fifteen years, I’ve created this fundraising campaign with Jeff's partner Lily to help offset significant medical and rehabilitation costs and support his family through this difficult time.

<div>Duke Wang is a beloved friend to those in the surrounding community, a loving father to Jeff and Henry, and Edna's adoring husband. He is known by those around him for his selflessness, kind-hearted spirit, and jovial nature. Like a true immigrant, Duke has put his life into his family business, working tirelessly for decades to ensure that his family can have a better life.

<div>Duke immigrated to the United States 40 years ago alone with nothing to his name. Working as a sous chef in many local St. Louis Chinese restaurants, he eventually opened his own restaurant next to a Schnuck's in St. Peters--Mandarin Garden.

<div>For the past 35 years, Duke has been the managing owner and primary chef, working tirelessly from the kitchen to run this modest family business. He has worn many hats in this endeavor, from managing all business operations to creating recipes, and he prepares most meals with his own hands each day and night. As a result of his endless dedication, Mandarin Garden has become a treasured staple in the St. Charles County community.

<div>In addition to providing decades of cherished meals for his loyal customers, Duke’s restaurant also served as the primary source of livelihood for his family.

<div>Unfortunately, due to this tragic event and the restaurant’s abrupt closure, Duke’s family faces an immediate burden covering medical expenses and stroke rehabilitation costs in the long term. The future hardships and impact on this family’s livelihood will reach far beyond what this campaign might fix, but any amount will help.
