Help Our Mother Save Her Home

Donation protected
"Hello, my name is Geraldine "Jerry" Kosinski. I live in Laurence Harbor, New Jersey. My husband Jim and I would have lived in our home 50 years next year. Jim passed away on October 21st, 2017 of bone cancer, two months before our 56th anniversary.

Prior to his passing, we lived on our Social Security. After his death, I lost his social security check which was $1200. I was informed after my husband's funeral I could not receive his ashes until I paid the bill in full, another expense I really couldn't afford. The funeral parlor also added charges that I was not aware of.  I was left to live on my own, lesser, Social Security check and my small pension. I was paying household bills and credit cards to avoid late charges.

In November, I became very sick with a viral infection. I was in the hospital for two weeks in quarantine, because they couldn’t find an antidote.  After he passed I couldn’t eat and went into a depression. When I was released I went to a Care One facility for rehab. I was there for a month, leaving on November 24th. I went home for three days before the symptoms returned. I called 911 and was back in the hospital with the original infection and pneumonia. They placed me in the Coronary Care Unit for two weeks due to heart palpitations. After release, I went back to Care One but only stayed for two weeks, because I was tired of being away from home.

All this time, I was unable to pay my bills, I couldn't afford them. I informed Social Security that Jim had passed away in October. They did not take care of the transfer of benefits until April when I began receiving his Social security of $1200, but then I lost my own. I got in touch with my reverse mortgage company, Champion Mortgage, and advised them of my husband’s death and long illness. I explained I couldn’t pay the taxes and asked if they could set up a payment plan for me. They agreed.

They paid the due taxes on August 6th. Afterward, they checked my bills and finances and said I did not have enough money to be on the payment plan. They then sent a letter giving me until September 5th to pay it back and a letter of intent to foreclose.

It causes me much heartache to think of losing my home, where I, my husband and three children have lived in for nearly half a century and almost our entire marriage. I am 86 years old and would like to spend the remainder of my life in my home.

Please help me. Thank you. Love."

Our mother is in need of help in order to keep her home after her husband's long illness, death and her own long period of illness. We are posting her story to try to raise the money necessary to pay her back taxes. Please try to donate, any amount is appreciated, or share so she can keep the home she and my father worked so hard to keep, the home she lived in through her marriage and the home where she raised her three children. Thank you.

Only 1,200 donations of $5 will help her meet her goal.

As per Go Fund Me's request I am her daughter in law. My daughter, my husband, Lee, her son, and I set up this page to raise money for her. When we hit $2500 I will be withdrawing the first of the money and giving it to her. Then again when the full amount is collected. Thank you for your understanding.
