Sugar Dog’s Mastectomy Fund

Hello all, This is a fundraiser to help Sugar Dog’s emergency surgery as her nipple ruptured the day after Thanksgiving. ▪️▪️▪️▪️ Sugar’s Hopeful Backstory: ▪️ Sugar was rescued on 8/24/2019 after our friend, Debbie, was contacted by a young lady who’s grandmother was caught up in a puppy mill/ hoarding situation. Sugar was one of 97 dogs, 7 horses, and 12 feral cats who left the farm to be rehabilitated and adopted to new families. ▪️ Sugar earned her namesake by being so open, sweet, and trusting to the rescuers— Sugar also likes to give hugs. ▪️ ▪️▪️▪️ The rescue Sugar was originally with spent 1K on Sugar’s initial medical (vaccines, spay, 1st round of eye ointment, 1st round of antibiotics, 1st ear cleaning, 1st round of steroids for her overall swelling), Sugar’s foster parents have spent $500 on her medical, and Sugar’s dad has spent almost 2K on her medical. ▪️ Sugar had grade 4/6 muscle atrophy, had to learn how to run and jump. She has chronic dry eye and will be on eye ointment indefinitely. She has a chronic deep ear infection which is still being treated and has not been able to be cured. Sugar’s front teeth are completely grinded down as her abusers seldomly gave her food and she was forced to eat rocks and dirt all of her 5 years. ▪️ ▪️ ▪️ ▪️ All about Sugar’s ta-ta’s: ▪️ Based off of Sugar’s overall body condition, we believe she has had up to 10 puppy litters in her life. She has already been spayed and has had general vetting but now we are moving onto the next biggest problem— her giant ruptured nipple. You can see itin her “before“ picture. ▪️ The veterinarian would also like to remove a smaller nipple and biopsy 3 tiny pea size tumors to see ifthey are malignant or benign (based off the size weare VERY optimistic they are benign). ▪️ We are hoping she will not have to have her entire mammary chain removed (on both sides) but it is a possibility. ▪️ ▪️ ▪️ ▪️ What’s Sugar up to now?: ▪️ Sugar has a huge purpose in life— she is her dad’s loyal emotional support animal (ESA). ▪️ Sugar has visited family all over Northern California and even got to go on a plane and meet family in Las Vegas. Sugar has accepted her own residency at Murphy’s Irish Pub in Murphy’s CA (Calaveras County) with her dad as they play piano and sing for tourists and community members Friday’s thru Sunday’s. ▪️ ▪️ ▪️ ▪️ Big Thanks: Big Thanks to Debbie Penrose of Deb’s Love For Senior’s Rescue for organizing this rescue, Jessica Hughes of Oh My Dog Rescue for bathing Sugar and giving her a warm home to stay at her first night off the farm, Maddy Hayley currently not rescue affiliated for getting Sugar backed by a rescue and TAGging her, Suja for fostering Sugar, Graham Richards for adopting Sugar, and Murphy’s Irish Pub and Murphy’s CA for loving Sugar Dog.
