Help "Sugar Chile" Robinson!

Donation protected
The legendary boogie woogie pianist and 1940s child star Frank "Sugar Chile" Robinson needs some help. Now nearly 79 years old, he completely lost his home four years ago in a fire and is now suffering from some medical issues with little financial ability to pay for them. He has had problems with seizures, minor dementia, and a stroke a few years ago.

Frank does not have much family left and is currently living in Detroit with his niece, Victoria Robinson, where they have a townhouse but unfortunately do not even have any regular beds to sleep on. They are two months short on rent with an impending deadline of November 3rd. I am simply a genuine fan of "Sugar Chile's" music and have only gotten to know Frank and his family in the last few weeks. Since they do not have the internet, Victoria asked me whether I would be able to help them raise money online. Whatever money is raised by this campaign, I will immediately send by check to Victoria.

When he was a young man, Frank was swindled out of much of the money he made on films, radio, TV, and stage by his lawyer. Last year, Frank was invited to attend a special dinner at the White House with President Barack Obama, because he was the first African-American musician to play at the annual White House Correspondents' dinner. Although they provided his transportation, he has not made any money from personal appearances in around ten years. You can read an article about the special evening here: Frankie Sugar Chile Robinson's D.C. Comeback.

Recently, a video clip of Frank's performance in the classic 1946 MGM movie "No Leave, No Love" (costarring Van Johnson, Keenan Wynn, and others) went viral on YouTube. The video is mislabeled as "Young Little Richard," although "Sugar Chile's" name now appears in the description. Take a look at this talented performer's big movie scene, which has been viewed on YouTube almost two million times, and please consider donating to help out the last of the great old-time boogie woogie pianists with his personal needs.
