Please Help Save Sue's Cheer Gym

Hi. I’m Sue Phillips and I am the President and Owner of the Viper P.I.T. Inc., & Viper ALL STARS Cheer Leading Gym in York, PA. I coach competitive cheer squads ranging in age from 5-38. I’ve been in the cheer world for over 40 years and I’m very proud that my passion for the sport has passed down to my daughters who help me coach at my gym. I also take great pride in the fact that in the Viper P.I.T. we are close like sisters and brothers....so much so that we refer to each other as “Vamily”.
The cheer world literally parallels everyday life. It’s very demanding and challenging for the athletes, coaches, parents and anyone connected to the sport. And, like normal life, cheering always boils down to the numbers. Countless hours of practice are needed to perfect skills. Cheer performances are won or lost based on numerical scores given by judges. And, being involved with competitive cheer gyms can cost up to $2,000 - $3,000 per year. Obviously, dealing with expenses is always the toughest of the numbers to deal with.
In the past, my financial situation has been such that I’ve been able to allow members of our team to practice and attend competitions for extended periods of time with pledges instead of actual payments. Unfortunately, over time, dozens of agreements weren’t honored and a large number of my trusted Vamily members jumped ship to another gym leaving me in a bad situation.
After literally coaching two generations of aspiring cheer athletes my gym is like a second home to many. I am heartbroken at the thought of having to break the news to my beloved cheer squads that I may have to close my doors within the next couple of weeks after all of this time.
I’m a fiercely independent woman who doesn’t like to ask for help especially at a time when folks only a couple of states away are still facing unimaginable hardships. However, my friends who produced my video and helped me set up this Gofundme opportunity reminded me that even seasoned coaches like me need a helping hand at some point in their lives….and right now my bank account could use financial spotters! So, I am officially issuing my SOS and 20 Dollar Challenge to all of my friends.
