Hi guys! My name is Kennedy Zenobia and the time has come. I'm going to New York! This upcoming spring, the Shorter musical theatre and theater seniors have the opportunity to take a trip to New York where we partake in three days of workshops and classes on various aspects of the business as well as audition workshops and master classes with Broadway directors. The trip culminates in an agent showcase where we get to perform for agents who will give feedback and possibly interview or sign us. In the last four years, every single one of our students has gotten some interest from at least one agent or casting director and most have several interested.
This trip is our capstone and our launch all at once, and it is expensive. Average cost for the trip (airfare, hotel, fee for workshops) is $1500 – and this does not include the $500 -600 needed to get headshots and resumes printed. (An essential tool of this trade and one that cannot be skipped or scrimped on)
We do not use any Shorter funds for this trip. Instead, we raise the funds ourselves, whether through refreshments and additions sold at our performances, or our unique and clever fundraising outings like bagel bars, speed-dating, karaoke nights, and other fun events.
Needless to say, I need your help! So, if you are willing and able, I'd love your support and aid in preparing for this trip!
