Study Abroad to Angers, France

Hi, everyone!
My name is Johana Ortiz and I'm a criminal justice major and I will begin my second year at St. Edward's University this fall. As a low-income student from Kerrville, Texas it has been a privilege for me to study at this institution. I am the first in my family to attend college and through my studies I hope to one day be able to give back not only to my parents, who both have sacrificed so much for me, but also to the communities that have helped me make it this far.
I was recently accepted into a study abroad program that will allow me to pursue my goals of learning about the cultures of other countries, and see how different they are compared to America. Also, it will allowed me to get the opportunity to see different cultures to get a better understanding for my major, and to learn new ways on how to improve the problems that occur in America. Also, it would allow me to see how other people deal with the same situations we are presented, and then I will incorporate them into my society to see if some of the ideas I learn could benefit. Through this program, I will be able to study in Angers, France during my fall semester. However, this trip will not be possible without a lot of sacrifice. I am receiving some financial-aid through my school, but it is not able to cover all of the expenses for this trip. I am saving up all of my summer earnings, but it is still not enough.
This is why I am turning to you -- my family members, friends, and communities who have supported my journey and growth for so many years. With your continued support and contribution, whatever it may be, I will be able to pay for my expensive visas, airfare, my books and supplies, and more.
I do not know if this opportunity will ever become available to me again, so please help make this dream possible! Anything helps!
