Study Abroad: NOLA to Panama!

Donation protected
Hello fellow supporter of education and equity! Thank you for taking time to consider supporting our trip, NOLA to Panama!  -- Nikki Ummel, Matt Firmin, Mina Hogan, Spring Mercadel, and Morgan Brandes.

WHO:
For the past two years, we have had the privilege of teaching highly ambitious yet underserved students who wish to expand their horizons and experience cultures different from their own. 18-24 high school applicants will be afforded the deserving opportunity to explore a different country: Panama.

WHAT:
Our school will be joining forces with EF Educational Tours on an 8-day program for students to develop STEM skills and discover the beauty of traveling abroad. Our mission is to empower the students to push past their comfort zone and allow them to immerse themselves in another country’s rich history, diverse culture, and become powerful leaders.

Einstein Charter High School is a place full of potential. Every day in the classroom, we push our students to be ambitious, think critically about the world, and advocate for themselves. Unfortunately, the reality in which our students live pushes against their goals and dreams. As teachers, it is our charge to whole-heartedly provide eye-opening opportunities that will allow them to learn, create, and empower each other and their communities in and outside of the classroom. We want the students to explore beyond the everyday walls of New Orleans because immersing themselves in a different culture is imperative to their success. Because our students’ success is our primary goal, we have decided to take 18-24 students to Panama for eight days in July!

The goal before us is certainly an ambitious one. There are numerous obstacles that we must overcome in order to take our students on this awe-inspiring trip. While we already have gained approval of our building administrators and our co-workers, we need your help to accomplish this venture!

You can help send our students-- the most courageous, enthusiastic, and inspiring students in our community to represent New Orleans-- to Panama. If students can do this, they will know that they are capable of doing anything they set their minds to.

We would greatly appreciate your consideration for any support that you are willing to give. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your help and encouragement. Your donation is greatly appreciated and will be used to make our students’ dreams a reality.

With warmest regards,
The NOLA to Panama Team
