Students Need Support after Flo!

I’m a fifth grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Brunswick County. My school is a Title I school, meaning that a large portion our students come from low-income families. A large portion of our students depend on a consistent school schedule to be able to eat enough meals a day. EDIT: Due to all the support, we want to go COUNTY-WIDE with our efforts!

I’ve been working extremely hard to help my community downtown this week. With money raised by a non-profit organization in town, I’ve used my savvy sales and couponing knowledge to continually stock a warehouse full of supply for the community! People have been coming in with tears in their eyes asking for help. We’ve been able to provide food, water, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene supplies. We’ve helped and will continue to provide these community members with immediate needs with funds provided from a non-profit.

NOW, I turn my attention to my students. My students are now going into their third week without school. We haven’t seen very many of them at donation locations. When they come back,  are expecting to see a lot of students in need of food and clothes. Honestly, I hope this fundraiser raises enough so we can donate to several other schools as well. We ALL need help.

I know that everybody is asking for donations and all causes are great. My plea is that you help us get these students fed, with clean clothes, and whatever else they need so that we can get them back to a place in their life where they feel safe. I have NO clue what their needs will be when they finally come back to us. We are worried and we need your help. With all money, we will purchase the supplies and have them readily available at school.
