Nigerian students in America: #EndSWAT protest

Donation protected
My name is Gbenga Ojo, I'm from Nigeria and currently an undergraduate student at Mississippi Valley State University in Mississippi, USA.

As youths of this current generation in Nigeria, we have been nothing but the victims of the outcome of the political madness that has constituted Nigeria for a long time by its leaders. Nigerian leaders are greedy, nonchalant, and do not truly care for the people of the country.

SARS  (Special Anti Robbery Squad) , a special unit of the extension of the police force in Nigeria has extorted and murdered numbers of Nigerian youth due to their ”youthful” appearance,  perceived sexuality, and most times, simply for nothing but a little bit of cash here and there.

They have been nothing but a menace to the society, especially for an organization supposedly created to eradicate menace in the society. They are arguably the most feared group of people currently in Nigeria.

For about a week now, Nigerian youths have gathered from different corners of the country, to protest  against the so-called”SARS, and ultimately the bad governance in the country. The protest has seen the progress and strength of Nigerians when they come together irrespective of their differences. The protests have received millions of naira in donations; seen proactive lawyers help arrested protesters and victims of SARS brutality; seen different medical personnel help injured protesters to the best of their ability, all who are volunteers; have seen the great value of Nigerian women/lady and feminists.

The protest means a lot to every Nigerian out there, we do not want the fire that fuels the protest ended as a result, I believe the provision of resources is one important way to help the protest stay alive until the protesters demands are met.

Please donate with me, my fellow Nigerians and brothers and sisters in the African countries. Let's help each other get to our desired common goal, A better Nigeria, a better Africa.

All donations will be directly sent to the ”@feministcoalition on Twitter. They are in charge of the resources donated to the protest.
