As many of you know, budget cuts have been affecting universities all over the country, and the Master of Conference Interpreting at York University (Glendon Campus) has been hit hard. A crucial part of this hybrid master’s is in-person training in a lab with expert interpretation instructors who come in from Europe. This year, that part of the program has suddenly been cut, without the students’ prior knowledge. A whole cohort will thus travel to Toronto in January for in-person instruction… without the expert instructors.

This in-person training is a crucial component of the master’s program, playing a vital role in shaping the skills and know-how of professionals who are critically needed in Canada and around the globe. (This is a concern for all Canadians, and we invite you to read this article and consult the last section of this page.)
