Student Nurse Placement in Sri Lanka

Elective placement in Sri Lanka, 2020
My name is Emily, a second year student nurse studying at university in Bristol.
I have been given the opportunity to practice overseas during an elective placement. I have chosen to spend 4 weeks learning, working and living in Kandy, Sri Lanka, with other healthcare students from all over the world. I will experience the harsh reality of healthcare in a busy, low resource hospital in the developing world, treating tropical diseases, seeing social and cultural impacts on local clinical practices, and being face-to-face with global health issues in the field.
This unique experience will provide me with opportunities to learn and grow as a nursing professional, through overcoming language barriers, working in alternative environments and with a shortage of resources. I am completing my elective with a company called Work The World, where I will be working in the hospital Monday-Friday and have the weekends to explore Kandy.
This placement is self-funded and any contributions at all would be extremely appreciated, and be put towards travel and placement costs.
Thank you very much in advance.
