We are two student midwives from the University of Brighton and both called Steph!
We are passionate about our practice and keen to enhance our personal and professional development. We have been offered the opportunity to travel internationally to gain experience in diverse clinical settings. Our aim is to travel together to Hue in Vietnam. This is an elective placement organised in association with Work the World. In order to benefit from this experience we have to self-fund travel, accommodation and living costs.
Our biggest goal is to learn as much as possible about midwifery care in Vietnam, which is culturally different from the UK. We aim to improve the care we can provide with this knowledge and bring it back into our community to share with other health care providers. We plan to create a video diary of our time so that we can offer a multimedia based, well-rounded presentation of our experiences to share with others and on this page.
Whilst travelling to Vietnam to accomplish this experience will be massively beneficial to our practice, it comes with high travel expenses. Between the two of us we need to raise £4,500 to fully fund this placement. Our course entails study days, placement and assignments which results in challenging time restraints. However, we are planning on fundraising through events, sponsorships and donations. We feel that this placement will be a great investment in our learning, skills and future as midwives.
We want to use this page as a platform to promote our placement and update you on our progress whilst in the UK and also once in Vietnam. We will be doing a quiz night, bake sales and a raffle. We will update the page with details of these with time.
If you wish to make a donation to our cause, sponsor our swim or purchase raffle tickets then we would be very grateful. If you feel it is more suitable for you to donate goods or services for our raffle then we would equally appreciate this. We would be happy to discuss our story further with you if you wish.
