student activist camp (Aug 10th-12th 2019)

Tax deductible
CAMP FUNDRAISING :

Why: In the past year, there has been a rise in youth activism around the world in response to climate change and climate justice.  PPS students, in solidarity with the youth-led climate strikes and the Julianna v. US federal case, organized several successful demonstrations. These actions led students to look at how to build on this movement, making it more equitable to students across district, race, class, age, and identities.

What: This will be a 3-day day camp for students to build a foundational understanding of organizing principles in the climate and environmental justice movement. Designed by students, this camp will be facilitated by environmental and social justice organizers.  Students will be introduced to the Jemez Principles, and learn campaign strategies and organizing skills and develop the connections involved to initiate successful grassroots movements.

All money donated will go directly to funding food, materials, and transportation. This is a beginning to a widespread grassroots movement in our community.
