STRUGGLE TO SURVIVE, help urgently needed………. This story is about my good Philippine friend Nemar who is in a situation he can’t get out himself. Help is urgently needed. He is about to loose everything in his life and up till now, he already has lost so much… As a good friend I try to help him out to get his life back on track. I can’t do this on my own, therefore any help is more than welcome. After reading the story of Nemar, I will kindy ask to help him out with a donation. Please take a few minutes to read his story.
2006-2010 As a very promising student, Nemar studied Business Administration at St. Mary's College, Tagum, Davao, Philippines. In april 2010 he graduated as one of the best of his last college year as a Major in Human Resource Management and Development. Raised in the Province graduation gave him the opportunity to live a good life.
2010 – June 2012 The average income in the Philippines is about $ a month. Nemar had goals in life to make a better life for himself and his family: June 2012 he succeeded finding a job in Dubai U.A.E. He was able to double his income, so he could help his family in the Philippines to have a better life.
2012, December 4th Typhoon Bopha, local known as typhoon Pablo destroyed almost everything at the South Philippines as the strongest tropical cyclone on record ever. The family house and village in the Provence were completely washed away! Nothing was left behind. The storm caused widespread destruction, leaving thousands of people homeless and killing 1901 people. Nemar, only living abroad half a year, lost contact with his family for 3 days, constantly in fear and worrying about the ones he loves most. In the meantime, the family build a tent, waiting for official help. Poorness, helpless, jobless his family had to struggle to survive for a long time. Beside their house, they also lost jobs, everything was completely destroyed.
2015 – 2017 Nemar decided to do anything possible to help his family. He was able to get a mortgage and build a house near the city, cause being frightened the family would face bad luck in the Province again. Finally the family was able to live a better life, at least the thought. Nemars father became very sick and was diagnosed with cancer. The family had to take care for the healthcare costs living with hope that the father would survive. But actually there was no money to pay for the health expenses. Eventually the father passed away because of liver cancer, leaving a devastated family behind. A family living with depts. The funeral also had to be payed and also therefore was no money and causing new loans and depts. A financial disaster for the family who was and is not able to handle this situation. Problems started paying the mortgage and other needed expenses like electricity. In the meantime, Nemar also had to pay the rent of a small room in Dubai. Things were payed by not paying other things and this kept going on, up till now.
2017- just now….. If you think Nemar and his family had it all, the story just gets worse. He lost his job he already had 6 years, the company he worked for had to increase on financial reasons. Being jobless for 5 years didn’t do any good to him and his family. Than his eldest sister, married to a disabled man and mother of two little boys, was diagnosed with cancer. Again the family had to pay for all the healthcare costs. More loans, more depts but his sister couldn’t be saved. She passed away April 2019, leaving the family behind who can hardly carry the loss, already been through such a lot. Nemar tried to get money to buy a ticket to say goodbye to his dying sister, he didn’t succeed. Eventually his employer provided him a loan for a ticket and necessary expenses. At least he was present at her funeral and was able to pay a share for the funeral.
July 2019 Nemar is so much devastated: 2 months behind paying the mortgage of the Philippine house, 3 months behind paying for his Dubai room and forced to pay back several loans. He works 6 days a week and don’t get his full salary, his employer wants the loan to be payed back. And from what’s left behind of the salary it’s not possible to pay for the arrears. Nemar will end on the street in Dubai if he doesn’t pay immediately. He will also loose the family house in the Philippines which makes is mother and family homeless. Every day for years now he family lives in fear, hoping for a miracle to happen and better days. As soon as the arrears are gone and loans are payed back, Nemar will be able to arrange the regular payments from his salary. Without help, there’s no solution and the family will lose everything left again. The won’t survive this setback again, Specially because the events of the last 9 years has broke them down already. What is needed Loan from employer: € 2.112,36 Mortgage: € 730,-- Rent for Dubai room: € 1.020,--
Total: € 3.862,36
Maybe it doesn’t look like a huge amount. For Nemar it is. In Dubai, the average monthly salary payment is € 3.000,--. But, unfortunately he is Pilipino and therefore he only gets € 1.000,-- a month, which makes that Filipino employees are very popular in Dubai. And for the Filipinos? They are happy already to earn more than they would in their home country. But Nemar doesn’t get his € 1.000,-- payment, his employer wants the loan to be payed. And the others also want their money and this all at the same time. To keep everyone satisfied he pays what he can and then others start complaining they get (almost) nothing. The biggest problem is he and his family will lose their house in the Philippines and he will loose his room in Dubai. And payments for the coming month, August 2019 also have to be taken care of. The outcome is simple: without help he can’t manage to pay and will lose everything he has. If he gets the so much needed help, he can organize his life again without stress. He and his family deserve better after what they have been trough.
On behalf of Nemar: Thanks so very much for your kind help!
