Strong Hearts supporting Matt

Pastor Matt Thompson of Surfside Christian Church was born with a congenital heart defect. He had open heart surgery 7 years ago to replace his aortic heart valve. Fast forward...  within the last few weeks Matt became very ill again. Bacteria and infection from an infected tooth got to his heart valve. He has gone through numerous tests, long hospital stays and then then worse case scenario happened. The situation required another open heart surgery to insert a mechanical aortic valve. Yesterday, he went into vfib 3 times which means that his heart stopped. The doctor's were able to bring him back.  Taking it moment by moment at this point. His recovery is going to be long and difficult both physically and financially for he and his family. 

He is a great leader in our church and is kind, gentle and compassionate. He has put his all into growing our church and working with the youth. He has a passion for the youth and bringing youth to Christ. 

He is the kind of person who would give everything he has  to someone in need so let's give back to he and his family. His medical bills alone are going to be exorbitant.

We also ask that you put him on your prayer list and ask all of your friends to rally around him and pray. His family, our church, our youth and our community need him to pull through this and come back to us.
