Strolling with Cori

Hello my friends:
I’m appealing to you on behalf of my friend Amy Belanger. Amy is a caretaker of her family, a strong, relentless mother who works full time and she is a respected U.S. Veteran. Amy has a 12 year old daughter named Cori who is just beautiful inside and out. Cori has a rare genetic disease called Trisomy 18. Trisomy 18, also called Edwards syndrome, is a rare chromosomal condition associated with abnormalities in many parts of the body. Individuals with trisomy 18 often have slow growth before birth (intrauterine growth retardation) and a low birth weight. Affected individuals may have heart defects and abnormalities of other organs that develop before birth. Other features of trisomy 18 include a small, abnormally shaped head; a small jaw and mouth; and clenched fists with overlapping fingers. Due to the presence of several life-threatening medical problems, many individuals with trisomy 18 die before birth or within their first month. Five to 10 percent of children with this condition live past their first year, and these children often have severe intellectual disability. Cori has certainly defied the mortality odds but sadly, Cori has many of the above mentioned abnormalities.
As you can imagine, with big health problems come big financial responsibilities. Amy would probably kill me if she knew I was doing this but I don’t care. Amy needs a little help. She is trying to get a special needs stroller for Cori and they cost upwards of $1000 (for a good, solid stroller). I’m asking you all to share whatever you can with this amazing family. Whether it’s $5 or $100 it doesn’t matter, please just donate whatever you can. It will be some of the best money you’ve ever spent.
