Mark Langston, Stroke Recovery

Donation protected
Denise and Mark Langston slipped away to the Tampa area for the weekend to celebrate Denise’s birthday! What should have been a fun and relaxing getaway turned into a nightmare for both of them. On her birthday, Saturday, February 2, while in Busch Gardens, Mark suffered a massive stroke. He was rushed to Advent Hospital in the Tampa area where he suffered a second stroke leaving most of the left side of his body paralyzed. One week later, Mark was stable enough to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility in the Jacksonville area. While we are grateful that Mark is making progress, the road ahead is long and uncertain. Mark has good days and bad days and he is fighting hard for any measure of movement on his left side.

For Denise, it’s been scary and overwhelming. Like most people, she was not prepared for the new responsibilities as caregiver and financial provider. Denise is now trying to balance full time work and caring for Mark. Each day after work, she drives to the other side of town to be with Mark at the rehab facility where she is learning all the things she needs to do to support Mark in his limited capacity. Navigating in this new world is anything but normal for them but they are grateful Mark is alive. They don’t need to be reminded about how fragile life is or how quickly everything can change. They are living it every day.
I started this Go Fund Me account after speaking with friends and co-workers. Many have been looking for a way to help Mark and Denise. This road is going to be long and their expenses will be mounting. Modifications will need to be made to their home to make it safe and functional for Mark. “Alone we can do a little; together we can do so much!” (Helen Keller)

If you are not able to make a donation, please share with others who might be led to do so. Regardless we ask for your prayers for Denise and Mark. We believe that the power of prayer is undeniable and we know when many are praying – God can move mountains! We aren’t asking for mountains… just a couple of limbs!
