Stroke Alert 6-3
Donation protected
Hi my name is Madi and I am the daughter of Scott Maiers. I am creating this fundraiser to help with medical expenses, out patient therapy’s, equipment, meds, and whatever else we might need in the future. With losing 1/2 of our income, we are taking a large financial hit.
On June 3rd, Scott had a left lateral medullary stroke. He was in the hospital for 14 days. As we are so VERY grateful to have been able to bring him home, we came to the hard reality that our lives look completely different than they did 15 days ago. He came home with a PEG tube (feeding tube)… “Asshole” as he has named it, left sided coordination and weakness issues, left facial numbness and droop, not able to swallow or manage his secretions and we have notice cognitive delays. He requires the use of a cane, rollator, wheelchair, and use of suction. He is down almost 26 pounds as of today.
He has dedicated his life to giving the best standard of care to his patients as he has been a CVICU nurse for 23 years and recently moved from bedside to hospice. He has been a HUGE role model to kids in his community as their coach for multiple sports. He has always been humble about what he has given this world as he believe “it’s how it’s supposed to be.” He now is in need but will never ask, and he even in this does not expect. In this most horrible slap in the face, he is thinking how can he still make a difference, be an advocate.
On behalf of Scott, my mom (Jodi), and I we have been asked the question “what can we do” over the past two weeks as well as many have requested for us to start a GoFund Me, Mom and Scott have been very hesitant in doing it so I took it upon myself to get it started. We are SO appreciative of the outpouring love and support our family has received thus far.
Much love,
Scott, Jodi, and Madi
