<div>Was als eine einfache Idee begann, hat sich zu etwas ganz Besonderem entwickelt.

<div>Im September 2024 haben wir begonnen, Schulen im US-Bundesstaat Colorado zu kontaktieren und E-Mails zu schreiben, um einen Schüleraustausch ins Leben zu rufen. Zunächst blieb es still. Doch wir haben nicht aufgegeben. Monate später, im Mai 2025, erhielten wir schließlich eine Antwort vom Fachvorsitzenden Deutsch der Cheyenne Mountain High School. Daraus entstand der Beginn einer spannenden Partnerschaft: ein Besuch an unserer Schule, Gespräche mit unseren Schülerinnen und Schülern und die gemeinsame Vision, etwas Bedeutendes aufzubauen.

<div>Nun wird diese Vision Wirklichkeit.

<div>Wir sind eine kleine Schule im Norden Deutschlands, und dies wird unser allererster Schüleraustausch sein. Für viele unserer Schülerinnen und Schüler ist es zudem die erste Reise ins Ausland – insbesondere in die USA. Diese Erfahrung ist weit mehr als nur eine Reise. Sie bietet die Möglichkeit, eine neue Kultur hautnah zu erleben, Freundschaften zu knüpfen und die Welt aus einer neuen Perspektive zu sehen.

<div>Unsere Schülerinnen und Schüler sollen den Alltag an einer amerikanischen Schule kennenlernen, Kontakte zu Gleichaltrigen knüpfen und kulturelle Besonderheiten und Traditionen entdecken. Geplant sind gemeinsame Schulaktivitäten, Ausflüge, Museumsbesuche sowie ein dreitägiges Gruppen-Retreat zur Stärkung von Gemeinschaft und interkulturellem Austausch.

<div>Wir haben bereits mit ersten Fundraising-Aktionen begonnen: Unsere Schülerinnen und Schüler haben Kuchenverkäufe organisiert und sogar ein traditionelles amerikanisches Frühstück für die Schulgemeinschaft vorbereitet – ein Zeichen dafür, wie engagiert und motiviert sie sind, diesen Austausch zu verwirklichen.

<div>What started as a simple idea turned into something truly special.

<div>In September 2024, we began reaching out—sending emails to schools across Colorado with the hope of starting a cultural exchange. At first, there was only silence. But we didn’t give up. Months later, in May 2025, we finally received a reply from a German department chair at Cheyenne Mountain High School. What followed was the beginning of an exciting partnership: a visit to our school, conversations with students, and the shared vision of creating something meaningful together.

<div>Now, that vision is becoming reality.

<div>We are a small school in northern Germany, and this will be our very first exchange program. For many of our students, this will also be their first time traveling abroad—let alone to the United States. This experience is more than just a trip. It’s an opportunity to step into a new culture, build friendships, and see the world from a different perspective.

<div>We want our students to experience everyday life in an American school, connect with their peers, and explore the traditions and culture that make each community unique. Plans include shared school activities, local excursions, museum visits, and a three-day group retreat designed to strengthen friendships and cultural understanding.

<div>We have already begun fundraising efforts: our students have organized bake sales and even prepared a traditional American breakfast for the school community—showing just how committed and excited they are to make this exchange happen.
