Young Family Undergoing Transplant

Donation protected
A story that melts our collective hearts and calls out to our better angels.
Background.
A beautiful unconditional-love laden story is unfolding before our very eyes. In Port Huron, Michigan there is a young family who are enduring a heavy hardship. Blake and Jen Stringer and their 1 year old daughter, Blakelyn, are in for the struggle of their lives.
Blake was born with a rare hereditary disease called Alports Syndrome that affects 0.2% of the population. It is a disease that has debilitating effects vision, hearing and ultimately kidney function. Blake and his older brother, Jason, both suffer from this disease. Jason has already undergone a successful kidney transplant and is thankfully living a full productive life.
So far Blake has undergone hernia surgery June 2016. Blake has had rare cataracts removed from his left and right eye on May 25, 2017 and June 23, 2017 respectively. Most recently, Blake had a heart catheterization on September 6, 2017.
Now, as fate would have it, is Blake’s turn to endure a kidney transplant operation. Blake has been on dialysis since June 19, 2017 (Blake and Jen’s 2nd Wedding Anniversary) and the sooner a new kidney can be transplanted the better outcome can be expected.
In a brave act of loving devotion, Jen will donate a life-sustaining kidney to her beloved Blake. Jen has completed stage 1 and stage 2 donor testing and received confirmation that she had been approved to donate on Aug 21, 2017. Final approval to schedule kidney transplant surgery was received on September 12, 2017.
An official kidney transplant surgery date has not yet been established although they are targeting either Nov 1st or Dec 6th of this year. Exact date is dependent on when Jen’s Mom and sister are available to fly in from Arizona to help out during their period of convalescence. Jen will be off work for a period of 2 weeks to 1 month and Blake will be off work 4-6 months. Neither Blake nor Jen will be able to pick up little Blakelyn while they are in healing mode.
During this healing period, the Stringer Family will need monetary support to help assist them through this period of tremendous financial stress and uncertainty. Blake and Jen’s family and friend support system will help with cooking and cleaning and caring for Blakelyn.
We are gently imploring family, friends and supporters of Blake and Jen and Blakelyn to pitch in whatever amount you can afford. Every donation counts and will make an important contribution toward helping Blake, Jen and Blakelyn contend with this challenging time.
Every family is precious. Good well-loved families form the foundation of our communities.
Let’s show the Stringer Family just how much they are loved and valued.
