Strike Out Cancer for Dave Rowe

Last December Dave experienced a stroke and while the doctors were performing tests it was discovered that he also had tumors on the right side of his brain, tailbone, in his right lung and on his adrenal gland. A few days later, he underwent a biopsy which unfortunately came back positive for lung cancer. Shortly thereafter,  Dave underwent surgery to remove his brain tumor. Although the surgery was successful, his road to recovery has been tough. Dave spent an extended amount of time in the hospital and in an acute rehab facility recovering from his surgery and trying to gain strength back before his doctors allowed him to return home.

Once he recovered enough, the team of doctors decided Dave's treatment would consist of radiation to the area where they removed the brain tumor and to begin chemotherapy for the remaining tumors. Dave is now receiving chemotherapy every 3 weeks with repeat CT and PET scans every 12 weeks.  Results from the scans have shown slight decreases in tumor sizes.  Even though there has been some progress, Dave still has a long journey ahead of him.  With the continued treatment and his physical decline, Dave is unable to return to work which has brought great financial hardships to him and Sally. 

Dave has remained in good spirts throughout this difficult period, spending his time with his wife, three boys, his grandchildren and other family and friends.
