Strength for Sandy

Donation protected
Sandy is a very hard working, kind, loving person. She has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, and has a large circle of loving family and friends.

Sandy has been through a rollercoaster of life threatening and ongoing medical battles since the beginning of June 2017, which are still persisting. She originally underwent a total knee replacement surgery that resulted in causing multiple internal infections that she has been fighting ever since. Infections caused a vast amount of built up fluid in her abdominal area which resulted in a lot of pressure on her lungs, causing one lung to collapse, resulting in her being intubated. She was in the ICU and under an induced coma for a month and a half, enduring over a dozen invasive surgeries from her abdominal area, in efforts to rid her body of the infections that were taking over her vital organs.

Sandy continued to stay in the ICU until August 2017, than was transferred to a rehabilitation center where she began efforts to gain her strength back, still with a drain in place for fluid that was coming from the infected region. She worked extremely hard to build her muscular abilities and stamina in efforts to return home. She was able to return home, under the care of family at the end of September 2017. She was able to continue the rehab process from the comfort of home, along with appointments at the local hospital.

Early October 2017, Sandy had completed a CT scan viewing the areas of complication once again. By Mid-October, the doctors saw the drainage area had more underlying issues, and scheduled her to be admitted into the hospital once again to start another string of surgeries that began October 30th, 2017. They made a deep incision from her side, in which they would continue washout procedures and pull out build up of necrotic tissue that was not allowing the abscess to heal. She is currently continuing these procedures to clean the infected areas and monitor the healing process.

Sandy continues to fight hard to regain the ability to strive toward healing, and bring back normalcy into her life. She has been under medical care for nearly 6 full months now.

Spiritually and financially this has drawn hard on her throughout this process. Through family and friends love and prayers, she finds her strength to keep driving herself towards recovery.
