I would like to introduce you to my brother-in-law, Sam Basham, for those who do not know him. He is a young father of two beautiful girls. Most people don't get to experience such a blessing at 22 years old. He is an amazing father, brother and friend. He has a way of making everyone in the room laugh with his humor. He is extremely hard working and is an excellent provider for his family. 
Unfortunately, Sam has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome. A disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The PNS nerves connect your brain and spinal cord with the rest of your body. Damage to these nerves makes it hard for them to transmit signals. As a result, your muscles have trouble responding to your brain and shut down.
Guillain-Barré syndrome can be a devastating disorder because of its sudden and unexpected onset. Most people reach the stage of greatest weakness within the first two weeks after symptoms appear, and by the third week of the illness 90 percent of all patients are at their weakest.
The recovery period may be as little as a few weeks or as long as a few years. About 30 percent of those with Guillain-Barré still have a residual weakness after 3 years. About 3 percent may suffer a relapse of muscle weakness and tingling sensations many years after the initial attack.
Sam is a fighter and is doing everything he possibly can to regain his strength to be able to provide for his family. He is battling his condition in the ICU unit, some days are better than others. He needs as much rest as possible to help his body heal. I have set up this GoFundMe to relieve the stress of the financial burdens he has been faced with. We currently do not know how long he will be recovering from this condition since there is no cure. The money raised will go towards his personal and medical bills while he is out of work. His family is doing everything they can to make sure his finances are taken care of and we hope you can help us as well!
