In October 2008 my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer that he can proudly say he is a survivor!
However , Since February 2017 my dad was having more health challenges that also as a lot of you know included massive weight loss! Which we assumed that cancer had surfaced again.
After several test doctors finally diagnosed him with pancreatitis. After the diagnosis he was still having health challenges but with the right doctor and medication we all thought it was under control. January 2018 is when my fathers health took an unexpected turn! The Tuesday night we called the HEMSI & doctors reported if we did not get him to the hospital THAT night he would have passed away brain dead.
Within the last two months of his hospital stay was a pure roller coaster as you can imagine. He has been on oxygen, life support , pneumonia in both lungs and had heart failure. He is a miracle itself to be alive! With all the trauma he has undergone he has had more weight loss (he is 94 pounds) and has lost his strength and is unable to walk on him own.
During these last months with the help of family , friends and the church we have been able to get by with our bills. We have tried several different programs to help with bills and my dad but we have been denied. Now money is EXTRA tight because insurance will not approve him for Wellness Rehab for physical therapy. Rehab and Wellness for one month cost 9,000 out of pocket per month. Care giver cost to help him at home is about 900 a week for the length of time we would need.
The doctors would like him to go to wellness rehab so that he can receive physical therapy , gain Wright & learn how to walk again. The time is literally unknown on how long his recovery will be . But if we Can just give him a little bit of strength I know it will take off from there . It’s heartbreaking.
My father has done so much for the community, some thing I had no idea about! He is truly blessed to be alive. I am asking for anyone who has seen my posting on social media or we have talked please donated what you can.
