Strength for Brax

Braxton was diagnosed with a brain tumour in January 2019. When he was due to be starting prep and making new friends, he was learning just how cruel the oncology world is instead.
In just over a year, Braxton had spent six months in hospital as an inpatient, underwent two major brain operations, was diagnosed with three complex medical conditions, experienced horrible side effects from multiple chemotherapy agents and had weekly blood tests and outpatient appointments.
Almost two years post treatment, a routine mri showed new tumour growth and in February 2022 Braxton underwent his third major brain operation. Three months later his tumour returned and his treatment recommenced, which ultimately led to his current admission.
On Good Friday, Braxton displayed signs that neurologically something wasn’t right and Sarah (Mum) was concerned that his shunt may have been blocked. Braxton was taken to the emergency department for monitoring and his cognitive state slowly deteriorated.
During the first attempt to fly Braxton to RCH in Melbourne he went into cardiac arrest and required resuscitation. He was then flown back to his local emergency department to be stabilised and put into a medically induced coma so he could be transferred to Melbourne.
Scans and tests showed that Braxton’s tumour had a bleed and caused pressure/fluid build-up on his brain which then led to his deterioration. Braxton is about to commence an intensive rehabilitation program after spending six days under sedation, so that his body is able to recover from such a traumatic event, prior to starting radiation.
Radiation will require six weeks in Melbourne which takes Sarah, Braxton and younger sister Kyha away from home, whilst Jayden (Stepdad) continues to work and care for Braxton’s younger brother.
Unfortunately this means yet again, out of pocket living expenses for the duration of treatment and juggling it all with one income causing significant stresses for them as a family of five.
We are seeking support to help ease the financial pressure that’s been placed on this beautiful family and every donation, whether it be great or small, will be deeply appreciated.
