Street Smart Collaborative's mission is to synthesize social and economic development in underserved communities. We do this through programs that nurture, heal, educate, and inspire residents. Our company develops and distributes a collection of campaigns that stimulate the growth of small businesses while connecting our audience to support services aimed at improving the overall quality of life. Streetsmartcollaborative.com features a Washington D.C. community guide that spotlights local social support resources. Our community guide also provides a carefully curated directory of local black-owned businesses that our audience can support. Other programs featured on our website include the "Smart Source" free small business resource center, the #SafeSpaceSaturday podcast, and the "Plugged-In," blog which features a weekly, local community-building events roundup. Our goals are to expand our community-based model to include other markets, launch an app to place local resources at the fingertips of subscribers, and host an annual Juneteenth event (June-Con) to cultivate community conversations and develop sustainable pathways for social and economic advancement.
As a non-profit organization geared at supporting economic development in underserved communities, we interact with local business owners on a regular basis. Launching a goods-based business as a black entrepreneur presents many barriers. Once businesses are launched they face the task of scaling and that’s where we come in. By curating this selection of products from these businesses we help start-up entrepreneurs bring their products to market.
