Strawberrymoon Homestead

Our dear friend Omar Perez died suddenly on the morning of November 2nd. With his death he leaves behind his partner Dorothy, their two beautifully kind young children, Valentina (4) and Atlas (2) and a homestead of wonderfully loving animals in rural Chelsea, Vermont. 


Omar's death has brought tremendous heartache and sadness to his homestead, his family, and his community at large. The past two weeks have been a time of remembering the kind, gentle, quiet man and grieving his loss. 

His death has also brought to his young family much stress and uncertainty for the future as he leaves Dorothy behind as the sole caretaker of their children and the sole breadwinner for the family and homestead.

Before Omar died he was working to save for a safe, winter-proof car for his family after the family car had been totaled. Currently, they have only a truck (which Omar used to drive to work). The truck, with only a bench seat, isn't safe for the children to ride in.  Dorothy has no car with which to drive around her young children. This means she can't get her kids to school, she can't get to work, she can't even get to the grocery store. Such is the nature of rural Vermont living; a car is imperative to a family with young children. 

With the funds from this campaign Dorothy will be able to buy her family a used car that can safely ferry her and her children through the treacherous Vermont winter roads. With this car Dorothy will be able to drive her children to daycare, drive herself to work and drive to and fro all of the errands that keep a family fed and a homestead running. 
Dorothy is an incredibly strong, resilient, loving, gracious mother. She is reluctant to ask for help because she is accostomed to working very hard for everything she has. I, Kate,  her friend and neighbor, am asking for help on her behalf, and with her blessing.
