STRADA VALLONI-TASCIAIRE

****ENGLISH****
A landslide due to extreme weather of torrential rains has caused the collapse of the only road that leads to our homes. A deep chasm divides us from our homes and from our daily lives. . . . more than 50 families, including many elderly and children, find themselves dealing with this disaster which began on November 3rd, 2019. Difficult, if not impossible for some, to go out to work and be able to return home at night, especially with the very dangerous weather that has continued to rage for 2 weeks now since the landslide. Most people have seen on the news that Venice is underwater, but our region of Liguria is also getting pounded from this weather. Many families are now running out of fuel to heat their homes, their hot water and for cooking- the cold weather has arrived this week. Most people have been able to get in basic supplies, like food with the help of friends and family on the outside and by carrying the supplies up and down steep muddy hills to their homes. Since no vehicles can pass the landslide we have no way to bring in fuel supplies nor do we have access to Emergency vehicles such as Ambulance, First Aid or Fire trucks. There remains open at this time a very small walking path that is still available to use, at your own risk. The road that collapsed is our only road in and out. This is a private consortium road in a mountainous agricultural area. Not a gated community like one would have in America. We are around 200-300 meters above sea level, several miles inland from the town of Sanremo, Italy. This is the beginning of the Maritime Alps. Most people have farm animals and everyone grows their own food to help save costs. The nearest grocery store is several miles away along tough terrain. This is our situation and now we must face reconstruction of the road as our only answer. Our municipality cannot intervene, because the road is owned by our neighborhood consortium. They may be able to contribute some funds but only once the work has already begun and the costs to begin work are huge. We, the people that live here must pay for the work to be done. The estimates we have received start at around US $ 225, 000. It is easy to understand that it is not possible for many to find the money to invest immediately for reconstruction, which if it does not start as soon as possible, could extend for many months. We ask for concrete help, in terms of contributions for these expenses that we will have to face. Another way of helping could be companies that can do the reconstruction at subsidized prices. We thank anyone who can help us. All donations will be greatly appreciated and no amount is too small to be helpful. Thank you.
