Short Summary
The Destination Imagination (DI) Club is comprised of 50 of the most dedicated Stoughton High School students. On any given weeknight it is possible to find them working in the classroom getting ready for the DI competition that takes place every March. These exceptional students will generally spend 400-500 hours every year working on a solution to a challenge developed by the international DI organization. These challenges are specifically designed to promote creativity, teamwork and problem solving. Our students learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and collaborative problem solving all while integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).
This year a handful of our students have worked hard enough to win first and second place in the Massachusetts state competition, qualifying them to represent the state at the annual global competition in Knoxville, Tennessee. In May, 2 groups of 6 students will have a chance to show the entire world their skills, team work and problem solving in a way that very few high schoolers have a chance to do. More than 17,000 school children will gather for Global Finals representing 48 states, 7 Canadian provinces and 15 other countries. The road to Knoxville was a very difficult one as our 2 teams had to prove they were among the best out of hundreds of teams from the state in the DI technical and project outreach competitions. In addition, the teams garnered multiple special awards that Stoughton has only received a handful of times before .
What We Need & What You Get
In order to travel to Global Finals we are going to need to raise:
$750 per person for Room and Board (May 24-May 28)12 team members and 3 team managers
$500 per person for travel
12 team members and 2 team managers. One team manager will drive to Tennessee with the teams' equipment.
