The Story:
Three years ago, my wife and I had the honour of legally adopting our 4 ½-year-old son, Samuel, in a private adoption funded largely through the GoFundMe platform. Early in 2017, through a series of nearly-impossible events, we discovered that:
1) Samuel has a biological, infant, baby brother, who has already been placed in foster care.
2) Due to events that should not be posted publically, the probability of these two boys ever having another biological sibling is practically zero (it would legitimately be a miracle).
3) This little guy’s advocates had been searching for a way to contact our family, but couldn’t, since they had no record of our address or phone numbers in California.
Let’s call this now 1-year-old toddler, Elijah.
