We are the Montana A Cappella Society!
Our little band of intrepid troubadours is from a very rural part of Montana – so small and remote that we are classified as Rural/Frontier. We range from school teachers, farmers, student, professionals to soap makers, retired folks and homemakers. And WE, this small town group, have been invited to an invitation-only International choral festival in Tuscany, Italy. There are 18 of us - men and women from all walks of rural life and we have been singing since 2003. We love to share stories thru a cappella music for the sheer joy of the unaccompanied human voice.
We have just nine months to raise enough funds to go. All of our singers are paying for half of the trip cost even though it is an extreme hardship for many of them and a challenge for us all.
What makes the Montana A Cappella Society different from other community based choirs?
First, our singers range in age from seventeen to eighty.
Second, we are story tellers. We invite the audience to join with us in the magic of story. We don’t suggest that the audience sit back while we sing at them.
Third, we are completely a cappella so we can perform for any audience at any time. Our favorite audiences are the under served - seniors, children, and those in need. Our concerts are always free to our community - no one should be denied the delight of music because of money.
Our annual budget is less than $3,000. We are always performing to help our valley’s charities reach their goals. So a trip of over $80,000 is an immense stretch for us.
We will be performing American composed music “The Stories of America” and want to share these stories with the people of Italy. We are amazed, delighted and humbled at the opportunity sent our way! We are also working hard to make this dream come true.
