Legal Fees to Stop 40b on Water St.

Donation protected
- Please consider donating $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 or more to pay for legal fees associated with stopping River Marsh, LLC from taking down at least 15 acres of trees along the North River in Pembroke in order to build a 68 unit condominium complex in a quiet neighborhood off Water Street Extension in Pembroke, Massachusetts. Water Street is a roughly 17ft wide country road in a historic area of Pembroke known for its shipbuilding.  The land in question has been deemed unbuildable wetlands and supporting uplands by the town and much of the land is deemed to be environmentally sensitive by many local, State, and Federal standards. There are 38+ acres unsuitable for building due to the high density of wetlands and vernal pools. The potential adverse effects on wildlife, habitat, vernal pools, insects and plant life would be astounding.

If it weren't for 40b, one would not be able to build a shed in that area, nevermind 68 townhouses, a $1,000,000 waste water treatment plant, and at least 150 surface parking spaces that will likely be visible as one boats or kayaks on the river.  40b was enacted with great intentions to provide affordable housing in every town.  The way 40b is being used by developers is not what they had in mind.  The need for affordable housing does not outweigh the need to protect the environment, the safety of our children, our endangered wildlife, and the rights of the existing homeowners that will face a significant decrease in property values.
