Stop Fiddyment Plaza Gas Station

The homeowners of Crocker Ranch and Fiddyment Farm are seeking donations to cover the cost of Attorney's fees in a lawsuit filed against the City of Roseville to prevent a 10 pump gas station or at the very least enable the residents to make an impact on the outcome of the proposed 10-pump gas station. Contributing to our cause fights for the health and safety of the residents in our community, which includes a large amount of children due to the close proximity of a neighborhood park and elementary school. This 1.38 acre commercial property parcel is the only parcel in the entire city of Roseville to be completely surrounded by low density residential (single family homes). Allowing this 10-pump gas station is clearly outside of the norm for the City, and clearly a unique project based on historical precedence for commercial business.
As stated previously, this project is surrounded by residences (eighty residences are within 300 feet of the proposed project), and a neighborhood park, which is approximately 310 feet directly across from the proposed project. Several agencies, including the California Air Resource Board (CARB), the Placer County Air Pollution Control District (PCAPCD), and the California Air Pollution Control Officers Association (CAPCOA) include residences and parks in their definition of a sensitive receptor when evaluating health risks from air pollution caused by various sources in an environment. According to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), “a project that is ordinarily insignificant in its impact on the environment may in a particularly sensitive environment be significant.”
Gas stations release a Toxic Air Contaminant called Benzene into the air. Benzene can cause long-term health effects such as cancer, birth defects, neurological damage, asthma, bronchitis or genetic damage; or short-term acute affects such as eye watering, respiratory irritation, running nose, throat pain, and headaches.
