Someone is shooting dogs (and other small animals) with arrows in my area. This young stray was spotted yesterday, sitting by the road with an arrow sticking out of its head. Deputies picked him up and took him to Alma Animal Clinic, where they expected him to be put down. I heard about it and told them I'd take him. They removed the arrow and the vet said it missed "everything important". It very nearly took out an eye. Chance, as I've named him, has come to live with me and my other dog. He's doing better than anyone expected. He was lucky. I've learned, though, that there have been at least two other animals -a dog and a fox- killed by arrows near Zion Road and Hwy 282 recently. The sheriff has the arrow. One officer said it looked like an arrow a kid might have. I was able to cover Chance's medical bills. Now we need to find his attacker. The money contributed here will go to the person or persons who lead officers to find the person responsible for this animal cruelty. My fear is that this is the work of a child. Any funds above the goal will be used to help defray medical expenses for other animals deputies find abused in the county.
